5 Books That Changed My Life
•••
By Violette De Ayala

I was asked recently what my favorite books were that helped to get me to where I am today. Here is a list of my favorite books and the reasons why they changed my life.
A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson was the first self-help book I ever purchased and read. It was such a profound book that it started to pivot me into a space of introspection and healing. I was 19 years old when I read this book and I went on to read books that brought me clarity and awareness.

Don’t let this cheesy book cover judge the content. This was the second book I read because I was already obsessed with Marianne Williamson’s books. A Woman’s Worth is a book that all women need to read. It helped me to define my self-worth and value, and it empowered me to take charge and get into healthier relationships.

Gary Zukav’s The Seat of the Soul was one of Oprah’s books, and I learned so much from this book about intentions, the reasons why people behave in certain ways, and it truly helped me to come to terms with some childhood baggage.

Viktor E. Frank’s Man’s Search for Meaning gave me an understanding of mindset, your innate will, and the way we perceive the world and our experiences. Though the framework is centered on the Holocaust, it is man’s will to survive that develops profound reasoning about the power of the mind.

When I was working on my marriage, this book came into my life. I never knew that each of us has ways to interpret receiving love and giving love. I even had my kids take the quiz so I could better understand how they feel love and acceptance. The 5 Love Languages is another life-changing book.

As a bonus, my book has the biggest ten lessons I learned in life with worksheets to guide you through your own evolution. I added mantra templates as well. It is, of course, my favorite book! The Self-Guided Guru is a tool to help you discover your own internal guru.
